IBL- a proud sponsor

IBL is proud to sponsor opportunities to educate the community, such as the “Blockchain in Agriculture and Smart Cities” seminar. As a pioneer in the field of blockchain technology research and development in Vietnam, IBL aims to promote the development of blockchain education and inspire young people to grow the potential and direction of this technology in the future.

Expanding blockchain education

The “Blockchain in Agriculture and Smart Cities” seminar organized by An Giang University is part of a collaborative and support project that IBL is implementing with universities across the country within the framework of IBL’s Vietnam Blockchain Country (VBC) project. The purpose of the event is to increase blockchain training activities and to improve the quality of engineers and human resources in this potential field.

"Blockchain in Agriculture and Smart Cities" Seminar

The seminar was a valuable opportunity for experts, researchers, educational administrators, and students in the Mekong Delta to exchange knowledge with universities in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai. Participants had the opportunity to exchange idea and discuss about the various applications of blockchain in agriculture as well as the opportunities and challenges of applying blockchain to the development of smart and sustainable urban models, especially in education and training.

"Blockchain in Agriculture and Smart Cities" Seminar

The seminar included two main sessions: “Blockchain and modern agriculture” and “Blockchain application to smart urbanization.” The first session provided a broad perspective and overview of the potentials and applications of blockchain in agricultural production in Vietnam, covering a range of hot topics such as IoT in high-tech agriculture and applying blockchain traceability to agricultural products such as bananas, rice, and especially mangos.

Presenting the decentralized model

Speaking at the first speech, Mr. Nguyen Duc Dinh Nghia, Blockchain Technology Specialist at IBL, shared his idea of the decentralized model. In the presentation, Mr. Nghia led from the development of centralized model systems with limitations such as single-point failure, manipulation, etc. The purpose is to support and contribute to resolving these limitations.

Following that, Dr. Pham Hoang Anh, lecturer of HCM City University of Technology, emphasized the significance and importance of IoT application in agricultural production. In order to develop hi-tech sustainable agriculture, the application of IoT solutions to production is an indispensable trend, especially in the present context where quality of agricultural products is becoming increasingly important. Application of IoT to agriculture promises to improve productivity, enhance transparency in the supply chain, and facilitate effective traceability.

The future of agriculture

Next in the program is the presentation by Dr. Nguyen Van Hoa from An Giang University about potential applications of blockchain technology in traceability of agricultural products, specifically on the main agro-products of An Giang province like sticky rice and banana. Mr. Hoa also shared more about the policies to support agricultural development in the province that are taking steps towards the development of modern agriculture with branded products on the market.

The feasibility of blockchain application for agricultural origin was discussed by Hoa. In fact, the market for agricultural products in Vietnam is now surrounded by unclear origin food and blockchain is the key technology to solve the problem of information transparency. With blockchain, consumers can check all information on the supply chain in a clear and transparent way. Distributors, retailers, and farms can control the status of agricultural products, transportation status, or inventory quantities based on blockchain and it can accurately predict user demand and as well as optimizing production planning.

Fruitchain- IBL’s breakthrough solution

Attendees also had the opportunity to listen to a discussion from Mr. Do Van Long – IBL Strategy Director of the breakthrough “Fruitchain” project, a breakthrough solution in blockchain application for traceability of agricultural products in Vietnam. The project was piloted by IBL with the My Xuong Mango Co-operative in Dong Thap province. The project aims to increase transparency in traceability and bring value to the chain of agriculture. Through Fruitchain, consumer faith in Vietnamese agricultural products will improve, thus paving the way for sustainable agricultural development and further raising the value of Vietnamese brands in the international market.

“Blockchain and Modern Agriculture”

In addition, the second session, “Blockchain and Modern Agriculture,” discussed the construction and deployment of smart urban models based on modern blockchain technology. Participants had access to updates on existing technology solutions playing a fundamental role in building and managing smart cities which includes certification verification support systems and decentralized systems that support active teaching. The proposed solution is the development of a platform for citizens to live and learn in the city’s intelligent training centers.

Developing “smart cities”

The third session started with the topic of “Blockchain and Smart Cities” with the presence of speaker Truong Minh Tuyen – An Giang University, and other prominent faces from IBL. The presentation focused on existing technology solutions that play a fundamental role in developing a smart city strategy. The proposed solutions at the seminar included a certificate verification support system and a decentralized system supporting active teaching. This is considered as an important premise in the renovation of the system to improve the quality of education in intelligent cities in the future.

"Blockchain in Agriculture and Smart Cities" Seminar

Blockchain in Agriculture and Smart Cities” is one of the collaborative projects that IBL is implementing with universities all over the country within the VBC project. Vietnam Blockchain Country is an important national campaign which aims to connect leaders, educators, policymakers, as well as businesses, profit and non-profit organizations in the blockchain ecosystem in Vietnam. The vision and mission of the project is to affirm, strengthen and elevate Vietnam’s position as a blockchain power on the world technology map.

To accomplish this mission, it is necessary to start from the simple, essential and sustainable work of investing in the development of high-tech human resources. IBL will continue to strengthen its community-based training and support activities, promote blockchain research and development in institutions, schools, and prepare for the future of the young generation to enter the industrial revolution 4.0.
